September 2009 Dog Photo Contest - Bloomingtails Dog Boutique
September 2009 Dog Photo Contest - Bloomingtails Dog BoutiqueCongratulations to Chico, our September Contest Winner!

Chico is a special little fellow and so deserving of his special prize!
We do not know about our contestants history prior to the winning photo being chosen by our Judge. Once the winners are chosen, we contact their owners for bios.
It is fitting that Chico was a rescue, relegated to the back of the pet store as he was considered too big for his breed, a Long Haired Chihuahua. He was destined to be either sent back to the mill or to a research facility. His Mom, Stella, was not having that and took him home.
That was 8 years ago and his plight at the pet store inspired his Mom become an
advocate and volunteer for adoption and rescues. They are very active in the NYC
pet community participating in many dog related events and
fundraisers. Chico appears in an Animal Planet commercial that is
currently running, called the Spot.
Chico shows us that you don't have to be a
"perfect" dog, to be a perfect pet!
Honorable Mention
 Bo & Lani Tessa
  | Halloween Pumpkin Puzzle Dog Toy!
These toys keep
pets occupied and eliminate boredom! They'll also help develop a dog's
intelligence and puzzle solving skills.
Works in reverse of a human
puzzle, dog takes them apart then you put back together again. Dogs
learn to think in order to complete the task. |
Our Guest Judge this month is very special to us here at the Yorkie Crested Cavalier Castle. Chris Wells is the founder and inspiration to a lot of us in the rescue community.
Chris is "Mom" to Jordan, a very special yorkie. Jordan lives at the Rainbow Bridge and has since May of 2004. Not to let something as mundane as being in a different hemisphere stop her, she still is a part of our lives Our Miss Muffin is a resident at the Rainbow Bridge along with Jordan and many others of our precious furkids. Jordan still "runs" her rescue group, as you will see from the quote below.
"FluffyButts Rescue Resort is
my group. I started it and it's still all about me.....oh, yeah, and
the homeless kids. We rescue small and large, fluffy and not-so-fluffy,
dogs and puppies who are homeless and it's not their fault. We rescue
'em, tell 'em they're gonna be okay, get all their health problems
fixed as much as we can, and help 'em find homes so they can spend the
rest of their lives eatin baby carrots and Pupperonies, and sleepin on
comfy BubbleButt beds.
I gotta go now but like I always say, "Rescue till ya drop!"
Jordan also publishes "The New Yorkie Times" newsletter from the Rainbow Bridge. Take a few moments and visit FluffyButts Rescue Resort's website, you will be glad you did. There is a link "NYT" where you can view Jordan's newsletter!
